Wastebuster update

Wastebuster is a non-profit environmental education programme, provided free to Surrey state primary schools by Surrey County Council. Wastebuster helps schools reduce waste, fundraise through recycling, explore waste in the curriculum and work towards Eco-Schools awards. Watch the Wastebuster promotional video for more information.

Eco-Schools have teamed up with The Pod to bring you a brand new national waste campaign taking place from 12-18 March 2012. Waste Week focuses on the waste associated with food eaten in school and was created to support the Eco-Schools waste topic. It is centred around the Pod’s great new waste activity; 'Lunchtime Crunchtime'.

Waste Week is a brilliant opportunity to encourage the whole school to learn about food waste, and think about how they can reduce the amount of waste going to landfill by re-using, recycling and composting.

Classroom activities

Wastebuster’s spring term craft activities (focused on plastic bottle recycling) are an excellent way to engage children on the topic of reuse and recycling. There is also a Top Ten activities guide to help you navigate Wastebuster’s abundance of free resources.

If you have a key contact, such as an eco-coordinator, school council leader or science coordinator who would benefit from receiving Wastebuster’s information directly, please email Juliet with their contact details.

Follow Wastebuster on social media to help keep up-to-date with the latest resources, campaigns and school eco-news stories: Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

Please note: you may need to use your school’s Wastebuster login to access some of the content above. For a login reminder please email wastebuster.
